Die beim induktiven Anregen von Bauteilen entstehenden Wirbelstr\u00f6me werden genutzt, um Fehler wie Risse oder Lunker zu detektieren. An diesen Defekten wird die Ausbreitung der Wirbelstr\u00f6me gest\u00f6rt, so dass lokal ein Temperaturunterschied entsteht, der mittels einer Infrarotkamera sichtbar gemacht werden kann.
